Dalton Kasel wins Round 1 of PBR Tacoma presented by Cooper Tires | PBR

TACOMA, Wash. – After taking more than a week off from competition to let his body heal, Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) was on fire Saturday night, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast (UTB) PBR Tacoma presented by Cooper Tires with a standout 88.5-point ride.

Launch from the slides on board Pookie Holler (Dakota Rodeo/ Brian & Ashley Pintar/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger), a bull who knocked him off in just 5.15 seconds at the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in March, Kasel was in complete control.

“It felt great,” Kasel said after the win. “I took a little break to make sure I go into the final healthy – and it paid off tonight. I don’t think I’ve ever been so motivated in my life. I got practice bulls this week, just my wife, daughter and I there. it really kept things simple and brought it back to fun.”

The 25-year-old, who rides for the Austin Gamblers in the separate PBR Teams League, was one of 17 men from a field of 40 to record a qualifying ride as the animal athletes put their extreme strength on full display in Washington.

A high-scoring 88.5-point ride earned him 28 Unleash The Beast points, keeping him at number 4 in the standings.

The victory in the round puts him 601.33 points behind the world leader Cassio Dias (Sao F de Sales, Brazil) and 95 points behind the number 3 seed Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil).

The two-day event at the Tacoma Dome marks the third consecutive season and 15e overall the elite tour has visited Tacoma and the 22NL UTB event of the 2024 season. After this weekend, only one event remains before the 2024 PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, starting May 9.

As the season drew to a close, Dias achieved a less-than-ideal score of 85.25 points in Round 1, placing tenth. Heaven walker (Lacey Scott/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) tested his skills.

Despite the low traction at the event, Dias took first place in the Unleash The Beast standings last weekend in Billings en route to the elimination rounds of the PBR World Finals and a chance to ride for the PBR Championship the following weekend at the AT&T Stage. .

The 22-year-old Brazilian cowboy is now enjoying his fourteenth week in a row and is at number 1 in the rankings. Currently, the 22-year-old Brazilian cowboy is shooting 10 out of 15 (66.67%) in the championship rounds, the second-highest final round riding percentage for all riders with multiple championship round performances.

Johannes Krimber (Decatur, Texas), Jessi Petri (Dublin, Texas) and Shane Scott (Molalla, Oregon) tied for second place with matching scores of 87.25 points.

Grin and win: Jesse Petri’s triumph over Regulator for 87.25 points

The first of the trio, 18-year-old Scott shot on board from the parachutes Zeus (Blake Sharp/Michael Floyd) as the capacity crowd cheered. Not long after, followed by Petri, who successfully covered it Controller (Humpz and Hornz/Frances Dandy).

All eyes then turned to Crimber as the event came to a close Saturday night at the Tacoma Dome.

After narrowly missing out on a second Premier Series win earlier this week when he was dropped by Alan de Souza (Taubate, Brazil), second in Everett, Crimber was laser-focused on the backs of the parachutes.

It erupts from the slides on board Mercury Lock (Long Ranch/Diamond C Cattle Co), the rookie sensation was flawless.

For their tie for second place, all three cowboys earned 17 Unleash The Beast points.

Scott powered his way into the Top 40 with the opening lap finish and was ranked No. 58 in the standings. While Petri, who arrived in Tacoma at No. 35, moved up a bit to No. 32.

Crimber’s second-place finish moved him back to second place after a week at No. 3.

The Nashville Stampedes Mason Taylor (Maypearl, Texas) rounded out the Top 5 on opening night in Tacoma.

On the run: Mason Taylor rises to 86.75 points on Wing Man

After going 1-for-3 in Everett and finishing 10th at the midweek event, Taylor was matched Wing man (D&H Cattle Co.) for its first partner of the two-day weekend.

For his solid 86.75-point trip, the Texas cowboy earned 15 Unleash The Beast points, keeping his spot at No. 40 in the Unleash The Beast World Championship standings.
