Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has opened up about being judged for her looks in the past. The actress recalled a few incidents where people commented on her appearance and also labeled her as ‘unlucky’. Vidya, recently seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar with Pratik Gandhi, talked about a specific incident where a producer commented on the way she looked. The actress revealed that the comment was very damaging to her.

Vidya Balan on the assessment of her appearance

In an interview with Indian Express, Vidya Balan recalled the time she went to Chennai with her father and mother. Throwing light on the incident, Vidya added, “We were sitting with the producer and he said, ‘Just look at her, does she love a heroine from every angle?’ I think that comment about my appearance was very damaging. For about six months I didn’t have the courage to look at myself in the mirror.”

However, life came full circle for the actress. After Lage Raho Munna Bhai was released, Vidya bumped into the same producer at the airport. When the producer said he wanted to approach him for his big movie, the actress simply said, “Sure. This is my manager’s number. You can talk to her.’

In the same conversation, Vidya revealed that she was labeled ‘unhappy’ after her film with Mohanlal was shelved. “After the film with Mohanlal was shelved, another Malayalam film was also shelved. So that’s where I think people started labeling me as unlucky or cursed,” Vidya recalls.
