Lee Lacrosse loses 18-6 to 9th-ranked Flagler on senior day

In Saturday’s game against ninth-ranked Flagler College, the Lee University Lady Flames Lacrosse Seniors were recognized in a special pre-game ceremony.

The Lady Flames ended their final game of the regular season with a loss to the Gulf South Conference, putting Saints up 18-6, making them 2-3 in conference play.

In the first quarter, the Saints got off to a fast start offensively, scoring two goals within the first two minutes of the game. But then Lee’s Brittney White took matters into her own hands by scoring three consecutive goals in a row. The third was assisted by junior Hannah Vecsey.

Soon after, Flagler’s forward Carley Tepel responded by scoring three of the four goals for the Saints to end the quarter.

The balanced attack continued in the second quarter for the Saints.

Flagler scored five goals in the second quarter alone and didn’t let the Lady Flames get a single point on the board.

In the third quarter, the Lady Flames were able to close the gap with a couple

of points with the help of midfielder Kat Sweeny who scored her 22nd goal of the season and White her fourth goal of the match.

Just like in the second quarter, the Saints dominated the fourth quarter in terms of scoring. Tepel continued her excellent performance by scoring two more goals in the fourth quarter, making it seven on the day for her, making it back-to-back games with seven or more goals for her.

The Lady Flames finished 9-8 on the season and will play a rematch against Flagler in the GSC Tournament in St. Augustine on Friday, April 26
