Loan well collapses, kills 7 Almajiris in Kebbi

Seven Quranic School students, popularly called Almajiris, studying at Malam Dan-umma Qurnic School in Bayan Science, Badariya, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area of ​​Kebbi State, have been confirmed dead.

Confirming the incident to journalists yesterday, Malam Dan-umma said seven students died on the spot while the eight were hospitalized due to the collapse of the borrow pit which collapsed and buried them while collecting laterite sand.

“What happened was that I instructed them to dig clay and gravel on top of the hill near the school to repair holes in their rooms against coming floods, but before they could get back I was told that there was a heavy piece of the laterite had fallen. about them.

“I immediately rushed to the scene of the incident where I confirmed that seven of them were dead and another who survived was rushed to hospital in Birnin Kebbi,” Dan-umma said.

Malam Dan-umma added that the bodies of the seven deceased students were taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi before being taken to their parents for burial.

While lamenting the unfortunate incident, Malam Dan-umma prayed to God to grant the deceased Aljannar Firdausi.

Zayyanu Sanka, a resident of the area and also Special Advisor to the Governor of Pilgrims, expressed deep sadness over the tragedy, adding that the government would explore the possibility of excavating clay soil or gravel on such hills as a deliberate prohibition measure. measure to address future recurrence of such an incident.

The names of the deceased are Muhammad Bawando, Musa Kambaza, Dan-Sayyada Kambaza, Abu Takai, Nasir Cheferu, Barmo Babanda, Kalije Bawanda, Yakubu and Aminu.
