TCU drops Game 2 in Texas

Austin, Texas – Texas evened the series with a 7-0 victory over TCU Saturday afternoon at UFCU-Disch Falk Field. The teams waited out a nearly hour-long rain delay in the fifth inning. Chase Brunson And Lucas Boyers accounting for four of the team’s five goals.

The rundown

Texas scored five runs in the second and never looked back. A leadoff double set the tone for the frame as the Longhorns sent nine batters to the plate. The big hit was a two-out, bases-loaded single off the bat of Jalen Flores.

Two more runs crossed the plate for Texas in the third on a two-out double as the TCU deficit grew to 7-0.

The bullpen slammed the door shut for the rest of the game. Caedmon Parker retired all four batters he faced. Andreas Mosiello worked around a trio of walks and fanned two in his 2 2/3 innings. Storm Hierholzer retired the only batter he faced in a row and Braden Sloan knocked two around a hit in the eighth.

Offensively, TCU had a baserunner in seven of the nine innings, but could never string anything together. The best way the Frogs got on the board came in the sixth after one Chase Brunson opening single. Karson Bowen hit a towering fly ball that was somehow caught by the left fielder at the foot of the wall. The catch turned into a rally-killing double play.

Louis Rodriguez (3-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits. He walked two and struckout one in 1 2/3 inning.
