Esa Paltanen

General Manager

Esa Joined the Wyndham family as the General Manager of Carriage Hills and Carriage Ridge Resorts on January 11, 2016. He is a native of Finland and immigrated to Canada as a teenager in 1978 with his entire family.

Esa is a Graduate of the Hotel Management Program from George Brown College in Toronto. His hospitality career spans over 30 years, including full service hotel operations, Banquet and Food and Beverage Management Operations, opening and sales experience in progressive leadership positions with Canadian Pacific Hotels, Fairmont Hotels and Delta Hotels and Resorts. For the past 12 years he has been a Hotel General Manager with Delta Muskoka Resorts at Grandview Resort In Huntsville and most recently as the General Manager of ClubLink Corporation’s Sherwood Inn Resort in Port Carling transitioning it into a Landmark Boutique Resort as Muskoka’s premier exclusive use wedding location and a culinary destination with Wine Spectator award winning wine cellar.

Esa looks forward to engaging with his resort colleagues to deliver Consistent, Responsive and Respectful service and a great guest experience to all of the owners as well as guests of both resorts.

Esa has lived in the North end of Barrie with his wife Marianna and two children Erik and Melissa since 2013 and outside of work enjoys golf, skiing, culinary and wine events and international travel as well as being his daughter’s “horse groom” at a barn in Warminster , Oro- Medonte and at her Trillium Circuit equestrian shows throughout the year.

Assistant General Manager

With a Bachelor of Business degree in hand, Sushanto has been passionately engaged in the hospitality industry for the past 20 years. His hospitality journey started in India in 1996 and has since lived and travelled for work in Australia, USA and the Caribbean Islands. Sushanto and his family moved to Canada as they wanted to enjoy a quality family lifestyle and what better place than Canada.

Having worked with the JW Marriott from 2010 to 2015, Sushanto joined the Wyndham family in September of 2015 as the Assistant Resort Manager. Sushanto and his family reside in Angus and love what Simcoe County has to offer. During his personal time, Sushanto loves spending time with his family (which includes their 2 dogs), discovering great places to eat and exploring Canada.

 
Virginia Hutchinson Dean

Virginia Hutchinson-Dean

Guest Services Manager

Virginia was born in Kent, England and immigrated to Canada with her family as a young girl. She grew up in the GTA and spent many years living in Georgetown, ON.
Virginia moved to Horseshoe Valley in 2015, at which time she joined the Wyndham family. She brings over 20 years’ Customer Service Management experience working in several diverse industry sectors including Pharmaceutical; Public Utilities and Sales Force Mobile Solutions Management.

In her personal time, Virginia enjoys spending time with her family (including 2 dogs), gardening, cooking and most outdoor activities. She also enjoys home renovation and beautification projects.

Virginia and her team look forward to ensuring they provide a great guest experience for all visitors to both resorts.

 
Edward Ted LaHay

Edward (Ted) LaHay

Housekeeping Manager

Ted LaHay joins the management team of Carriage Hills and Carriage Ridge Resorts with extensive experience in the industrial laundry and service industry. For the past 30 years, Ted has held senior management positions that include General Manager (Wagg’s Linen), President (Central Ontario Laundry Services), and Branch (Service) Manager (G&K Services). Ted, a licensed 4th Class Stationary Engineer, also has extensive experience in operating and maintaining industrial facilities and industrial equipment. Within these leadership positions, Ted has embraced team work, hard work, honesty and fun as the main drivers of success.

Outside of work, Ted has been involved in the Ontario Minor Hockey system over the years, volunteering his time as the Vice-President of Gravenhurst Minor Hockey and head coach for numerous organizations, including; Gravenhurst Minor Hockey, Orillia Minor Hockey, and North Central Predators AAA. In his spare time, Ted is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys his ATV’s and snowmobiles. Ted also enjoys travelling our great country of Canada, with a soon to be realized goal of exploring all of our provinces and northern territories.

Married for 37 years to his wife Carol, Ted has 2 sons, and 4 (soon to be 5) grandchildren

 
Collin Brown

Maintenance Manager

Collin started at Carriage Hills and Carriage Ridge Resort in late August of 2018 as Maintenance Manager, prior to joining Wyndham, Collin work in the Retail/Commercial Property Management Field for the past 10 years, where he was responsible for the management and operations of shopping centers though out South Eastern Ontario.

Collin currently resides in beautiful Tiny Ontario, along with his wife Alicia, their children (which includes their 2 Great Danes).

Collin and his family enjoy everything this area has to offer especially the beautiful scenery you can enjoy while boating in the summers and snowmobiling in the winters.

 
Pat Harrison

Pat Harrison

Accounting Manager

Pat started with Carriage Hills Resort Corp in October 1996, prior to the opening of the Preview Centre at Horseshoe Resort, as a Financial Clerk. As sales increased and the Accounting Department required expanding she became Accounting Manager.

Pat assumed responsibility for the accounting of Mountainside Resort Sales & Marketing in 2006 and became Canadian Regional Accounting Manager. When Shell Vacations closed their sales centre in Horseshoe Valley in 2009, she was transferred to Carriage Hills Hospitality Inc as Accounting Manager.

Prior to 1996 Pat spent 20 years in the Broadcasting Industry and 5 years with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Pat and her husband Tom have lived in the Horseshoe Valley area for 35 years.
